LC Connectors An LC fiber optic connector uses a 1.25mm ferrule, half the size of SC. Otherwise, it’s a standard ceramic ferrule connector that terminates easily with any adhesive. Good performance, great for single mode. LC, MU and LX-5 use the same, but cross adapters are not easy to find. LC is covered in the TIA FOCIS-10 (TIA-604-10) connectivity adaptability standard.

SENKO LC Unibody is fully compatible with the original LC family of single-mode and multimode connectors, adapters and related components manufactured under OFS Fitel’s worldwide license. The Unibody features a compact, stretch-resistant design with an RJ-45-style interface and features a one-piece molded housing with an internal resistive element, up to 90 degrees of lateral stretch performance under Telcordia GR-326-CORE testing. The LC Unibody series is very durable, which prevents tearing and accidental damage in high-density networks. This resistor comes in two configurations, simple or duplex, and can be used in the same connector body. The series includes a jumper connector designed for 2.0mm wiring and a behind-the-wall (BTW) version for 900µm buffered fiber. Unibody can be used for single-mode and multi-mode applications with either PC or APC. A plastic housing and boot made of UL-rated materials are also available. The set complies with Telcordia GR-326-CORE, IEC 61754-20 and TIA / EIA 604-10 standards and meets OFS Fitel independent test criteria.

LC connectors (AKA: Lucent, Little, or Local connectors) are designed as a push-pull connector that locks in place with a latch to secure the cable. At about half the size of SC connectors, LC is now the preferred choice for high-density connections.

Differences: Size: LC connectors are smaller in size compared to SC connectors. Latching mechanism: SC connectors use a push-pull latching mechanism, whereas LC connectors use a clip-locking mechanism to secure the connector in place.
